As a brand-dedicated dealership, Ken Ganley Subaru Wickliffe is proud to support the Subaru Loves Pets initiative. This was recently marked by the fifth annual National Make a Dog's Day event held on Oct. 22.

This one day has sought to raise awareness of homeless dogs that remain in shelters despite their unconditional loving nature. There's also the standing issue of a large "Underdog" population represented by older dogs often ailing or physically challenged. Most often, these dogs in-need are never adopted.

Connecting Shelter Pets with Loving Homes in Cleveland, OH

For five consecutive years, the Subaru brand's National Make a Dog's Day event seeks to highlight the plight of homeless dogs that remain in shelters throughout the nation as well as here in Painesville, OH.

As such, the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has tallied the degree of pets surrendered to shelters every year. With nearly 6.3 million being abandoned, support and awareness is mustered through the Subaru brand and over 600 affiliated dealerships by a variety of events and initiatives.

Annual Events and Fundraising

This past Oct. 22 sought to make homeless dogs feel loved and cared for in spite of their ongoing plight. This was noted with a dedicated date in which the Underdog population of local shelters was extended exclusive attention through a broad-based adoption event.

As well, during the course of the year many Subaru dealerships host in-person and virtual pet-adoption events. To this, there's a support structure of Subaru retailers, shelters, rescue agencies and pet-welfare organizations all taking aim at ensuring homeless pets get a second lease on life. With each pet adopted at a Subaru dealership event, $100 will have been donated to a partnered shelter.

In essence, any amount of care extended this homeless pet population serves to save lives. And it's simple to get involved.
